PRODUCTS

The products of SPS LLC are Programmable Manufacturing Advisor (PMA) and PSE Toolbox. Each of them and their utilization are described below.

Computer Programming

PMA

  • PMA is an AI device for automating decision-making in the manufacturing environment.  

  • PMA consists of three units: Information Unit (IU), Analytics Unit (AU), and Optimization Unit (OU), with functionalities indicated in the figure below.

  • Accordingly, PMA-based SPS is a feedback structure consisting of three blocks: Production System, PMA, and Operations Manager (OM). The inputs to PMA are equipment status measurements, the desired by OM productivity improvement, and the available action space. The outputs of PMA are the System Health and the designed continuous improvement project, both provided to OM. The output of the system as a whole is the Resulting Productivity improvement. 

  • The workflow of PMA-based SPS is shown below:

The functionalities of its steps are as follows: 

  • IU provides AU with a mathematical model of the production system at hand; 

  • AU evaluates the System Heath and provides it to OM; 

  • based on this information, OM provides OU with one or more scenarios for productivity improvement; 

  • OU calculates optimal steps of system modifications for implementing each of the entered scenarios (if at all possible); 

  • OM approves one of them and passes it on to the implementation team.

PMA demo is provided here with the following limitations: 

  • It can be used for systems with no more than five machines.  

  • Its functionalities are limited to serial lines and assembly systems with no carriers and product defects.

Computer Programming

PSE Toolbox

  • PSE Toolbox is a suite of software, which implements the analytics developed in PSE. It is a tool for semi-automated decision-making in the manufacturing environment, where the intelligence is provided by PSE-trained personnel, while the calculations, leading to a continuous improvement project, are carried out by PSE Toolbox autonomously. 

  • PSE Toolbox homepage consists of a banner, representing its utilities, and seven modules. 

  • The utilities allow to upload mathematical models of new systems, maintain those uploaded previously, as well as to store shared and example systems. 

  • The modules carry out calculations indicated by their titles and resulting in a continuous improvement project.  

 

  • PSE Toolbox-assisted approach to continuous improvement project design proved to be useful as a precursor to a fully automated PMA-enabled approach.

PSE Toolbox Demo

Similar to PMA, it is provided here with the following limitations:
